For the Love of the Game Fantasy Baseball League: League Rules

  I. Governance  A. The league shall have a commissioner, who shall either be a volunteer, or shall be selected by the majority of the league managers, and the commissioner shall serve until he relinquishes the position or is voted out of office by a majority of the managers at the time. A vice-commissioner may be appointed by the commissioner to assist the commissioner or to serve in his absence. Subject only to the provisions of this Constitution, the commissioner’s ruling on any disputes regarding this league is final.  The commissioner may at any time each season appoint a three person committee to resolve individual disputes or issues (the “Dispute Committee”) that occur during the season. This committee shall serve for the entire season. Should any issue or dispute involve the persons on the committee, then the commissioner shall either serve in that committee member’s stead or shall appoint for the dispute another manager for the committee to serve in that instance only. The committee shall make determinations by majority vote, and may elect to keep the vote secret. The resolution shall be announced in writing at either the league Proboard or the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball Comments page.  The commissioner shall not resolve personal disputes in which he is involved. The selected committee shall resolve such disputes.

II. Object  The objective of this association is to play fantasy baseball, as defined by these rules, and to compete on a “head to head” weekly basis among the managers in the league over the course of the entire season, and to play in a playoff scheme determined by Yahoo Fantasy Baseball and the Commissioner to determine the first, second and third place winners of the league annually. At least six teams shall be eligible for the playoffs.

III. Teams  A. The league shall be made up of 12 teams. In future years the number of managers shall be determined by the commissioner. B. Team names must not be lewd or distasteful and cannot be changed after commencement of the league draft. A team may not change names if it has previously won a league title so long as the manager remains in this league.  (Effective the 2018 season the league shall be comrised of 14 teams in two divisions).

IV. Roster  A. Each teams' active roster consists of the following 24 major league players: 1 first baseman (1B) 1 second baseman (2B) 1 third baseman (3B) 1 shortstop (SS) 1 catchers (C) 3 outfielders (OF)2 utility hitters (any of above positions)2 starting pitchers (SP) 2 relief pitchers (RP) 4 other pitchers (starter or reliever) 6 bench reserve players.

V. Position Eligibility  Player position eligibility shall be determined pursuant to Yahoo fantasy baseball rules.

VI. Snake Draft Procedure  A. The snake draft shall commence at least thirty days prior to the start of the baseball regular season. The exact date and time shall be determined by the commissioner. The order of the draft shall be determined by the commissioner using a random method that is fair to all managers.
Managers may trade their draft positions by disclosing their agreement in the ProBoard Manager's Room. All managers in a trade must state the agreement in writing.

Each manager shall have 12 hours to select a player during each round of the draft. Should a player not select within 12 hours, the next manager may select, and he shall have 12 hours.  The player who failed to select may select an available player at any time without altering in any way the order of draft. Since two managers shall be eligible simultaneously during this period to select a player, order of posting shall be “first to declare” on the ProBoard Draft board.  Any manager who cannot select at the time required may advise the commissioner or the co-commissioner of his selection in advance, and the commissioner or co-commissioner shall announce the selection in the place of the absent manager provided that the player selected by the absent manager is available at the time of the absent manager's turn.

There shall be no trading of players or of draft slots during the draft. Drafted players can be traded among managers immediately after the final draft pick of the final draft round. Any such trade made before the activation of the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball League website for our league must be clearly stated in writing in the ProBoard Manager's Room by all managers involved in the trade.
Any trade made among managers before the activation of the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball League website is null and void if objected to by three or more managers within 24 hours of the announcement by the last of the managers involved in the trade.

Managers may, before the activation of the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball League website for our league, drop a drafted player and pick up any player not drafted. Notification must be done in writing in the ProBoard Manager's Room and by email notice to the league commissioner.

Trades made after the activation of the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball League website shall be governed by Yahoo Fantasy Baseball site rules as set by the commissioner.

VII. Activation of the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball League Website. Upon activation of the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball site and inclusion in it of the league teams and player selections, all rules and regulations of Yahoo are final and conclusive. The league commissioner shall, subject to these rules, select all variants for the ongoing play during the season from the choices available and before the professional baseball season begins. These rules shall be stated before the commencement of the season by annual Amendment to these rules.  The Commissioner shall input into the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball site all league names and players for each team to reflect the draft results and trades made to that date and time. It is up to the league managers to insure that the players inserted for each team correctly reflects the league draft.
VIII. Standings  A. The following criteria shall be used to measure team performance:  (HR) - Total Home Runs (RBI) - Total Runs Batted In (RS) - Total Runs Scored (SB) - Total Stolen Bases (OBA) - Total On-Base Average (ERA) - Composite Earned Run Average (WHIP) - Composite Ratio: BB + Hits/IP (W) - Total Wins (S) - Total Saves(K) - Total Strikeouts  B. Standings shall be determined by Yahoo Fantasy games, and shall be determined by Head to Head competition, with a weekly winner and loser in each contest between teams. Ties result when teams tie for the number of categories won in their weekly confrontation. The Commissioner shall determine the minimum number of innings required to be pitched in each weekly match, the number of trades allowed weekly by managers, and such other variables as required to be set up for Yahoo Fantasy Baseball. These parameters will be stated in writing by the Commissioner annually by amendment to these Rules. Such parameters cannot be changed once the season begins.

IX. Stats  A. Yahoo shall determine all stats.

X. Amendment of these Rules These Rules may be amended from time to time by majority vote of the managers. A quorum shall consist of seven or more managers. All tie votes shall be broken by the Commissioner.
