Draft Times just curious

So as I wait for my pick I just wonder in today’s world of smart phones what in the world takes so long to make a pick?
I am not blasting anyone I am really just curious as to what contributes to hours between picks?

Is it because some teams have only limited time to an internet source or perhaps the team is not sure who to pick with all the many options?

I love this draft it really prepares for every other league where I dfaft a team but really does it take 12 hours?
I could travel to the moon and still be able to get a pick in with current technology.  So throw it out fellow fantasy baseball brothers what generally leads to delays in picks?

Again not meaning anything bad just curios.

Re: Draft Times just curious

This year it has been very slow it seems.  But to respond to your question, speaking for myself only, I never use a phone for fantasy sports.  Never.  Must have either desktop, like now, or my Apple laptop.  I was away all weekend and waited to get to the hotel at day's end to fire up the laptop.
Millenials are all into the phones as form of communication and everything else.  We of the more seasoned age prefer to see the big picture.  Now you know.  That will be three dollar please.

Re: Draft Times just curious

Ok so do you have a smart phone or are you operating off a flip phone?
Basically the phone is a computer i use my phone more for computer related things than actual phone task.
Do you not trust the phone or are you on a work phone where you can’t use it for anything but work?

Re: Draft Times just curious

I use my phone to read newspapers, email, Misfit, play Spotify, etc.  The reason I stay away from fantasy sports on the phone has more to do with the inability to jump around efficiently among various websites (fangraphs) and Google spreadsheets from a phone base. I guess it could be done, but for me it is much easier to just keep a bunch of tabs open, especially with my alter ego being the commish.  He needs to keep up with the picks 24/7.  Rough job!

Re: Draft Times just curious

I keep a running list of 5-7 available players based on where I'd like my next pick to be in between picks so I can make a quick pick if necessary when its my turn and not have to do a ton of research...not saying this would work for everyone but it might speed things up a tad??

Re: Draft Times just curious

I've been thinking of how to get this group to make some quicker picks.  Any ideas?  I know that we have gone faster in past years.

It's been so long since I made a pick. I've changed my pick 10 times. Let's get going

Gonzo, you might need to renew your password since you have changed your username.  I ran into that problem with my team username change.

Re: Draft Times just curious

Yes , this is painful.  2 picks in 22 hours.  Just a newbie here but i thought 12 hour rule was for overnight and extreme situations

Re: Draft Times just curious

Yes, that is the way it is supposed to be, and has been in past years.  This year seems different.  Partly due to 14 managers instead of 12, but also we are suffering through more of these long waits for some reason.

I can only assume that sooner or later managers will get serious as the season approaches.  But at the rate we are going, it could be down to the wire.

It will take a league rule change to shorten the 12-hours, which is intended for working days and overnights only.  During the evenings we expect to get six or seven picks per night normally.
