Cowboy Soldiers picked Will Smith in Round 14, thinking him to be the Atlanta closer. My understanding is that Mark Melancon is the closer, at least to begin the season. I believe Smith is the better pitcher, and certainly has plenty of closing experience, but the team manager apparently plans to keep Smith in a high-leverage role in the middle innings and hope Melancon can continue to be successful as closer. If Melancon fails, then Smith might be next in line.

Thanks for tipping off everyone of a potential closer still available. LOL

My thoughts are that Melancon will start the season as closer... but he is old and not that good. Smith will be the 8th inning guy but take over soon. 4 year (13 mil per) says he will.
I'll keep that in mind Cowboy when you come to me hat in hand begging to trade Smith for one of my top flight RPs.
