2020 Season Discretionary Commissioner decisions

For 2020 the Commissioner has made three changes.
1.  Reduce IL slots by one (to three)
2.  Eliminate NA slot
3.  Institute FAAB

Major league baseball has made changes in the rules for minimum IL time periods.  It is thought that the changes will reduce the number of players who invoke the IL.  With fewer IL slots for 2020 managers will need to exercise more discretion and thought in making decisions to keep or drop an injured player from the roster, and this will increase the competitiveness of the league.

The second and third changes are bundled and interconnecting.  This year minor league players will not be eligible in our draft.  They will, however, go to the highest bidder in the blind bid process known as free agent acquisition bid, or "FAAB". Each manager will be allocated $100 fantasy bucks to last the entire season to bid on FAAB eligible players. A bid of 0 is allowed and can purchase a player if no other bid is entered.  Between two tie bids the Yahoo  waiver "rolling list" determines the winning bid. By switching the league to "FAAB", and removing the NA slot, managers will be tasked with putting up FAAB money and secret bidding for players who last year were claimed and placed in a the NA slot during the draft or were selected by order of waiver during the season.    The five player weekly acquisition limit will include players acquired via FAAB.
